We are pleased to welcome you to the second season of Drisha’s music and liturgy project, recently given the name Gilu Bir’ada. The new season, Reverence & Reverie, takes us into the sounds and sentiments of the High Holidays.
We are proud to reintroduce Mr. Andy Statman on clarinet, and Mr. Abaye Steinmetz-Silber on piano. It is also our honor to welcome Ms. Laura Melnicoff on cello, and Mr. Jordan Hirsch on trumpet.
Rabbi David Silber provides framing by discussing the purpose of the prayers and emotions of the Rosh Hashanah services, but our focus is on the niggunim (of primarily chasidic origins) performed by our musicians. It is our hope that you enjoy the series, but also that it helps to imbue your holiday experience with a richer, more nuanced, perhaps even more melodious sense of meaning.
