The righteous individual, the tzaddik, is a central figure in the Bible and throughout the Jewish tradition. But what role, if any, does the tzaddik play in Jewish law (halakhah) in particular? By considering the place of the tzaddik in classical rabbinic legal literature, we will gain insight into the nature and ambitions of halakhah itself.

This Renee and Alexander Bohm Memorial Lecture, taught by Dr. Tzvi Novick, is sponsored by Elissa Shay Ordan and Daniel J. Ordan in honor of their grandparents, Renee and Alexander Bohm z”l.

It was originally recorded on 11/21/2021.
